This is one of the best places for sushi that I know of in Simi Valley. I ordered the lobster roll and it was so good and not too expensive considering that it had lobster(a.k.a)expensive shellfish.

It's not the fanciest place in town, in fact, it's unsuspecting and sometimes, that is where the best food or service can be found. I can't say the sushi cuts are as tidy as more upscale place, and for sure, there may be better sushi spots around that cost more, but I still give this place 5 stars. My husband and I didn't expect the most premium cuts of sushi for all you can eat, but were very surprised by the sushi quality and variety after discovering this place the first time. We love to sit at the counter and chat with the sushi chef. Every time we come here, it's empty, quiet, and we feel that we have one on one service. Great for a few introverted people. I will say, the cuts are generous; the toro is fantastic (who doesn't love a good fatty tuna belly), the blue fin is excellent; the oysters are fresh and bright; uni was found to be creamy, delicate, and fresh; yellowtail belly melts in your mouth; salmon is fatty and delicious; we absolutely love the scallop that is perfectly complimented by a bright squeeze of lemon. I love that it's a local spot, a short distance from our house, so we can uber and have our fill of beer and sake. The customer service excellent, and you can thank your sushi chef for that also. He is kind, friendly, has a great story, and just a nice person. Please tip your sushi chef and/or take sake shots (if permissible). The servers are friendly and attentive. We love this spot. We are always satisfied. Food is fresh and tasty. PS. We can't base this review on rolls because we don't eat them; rolls aren't sushi, so do yourself a favour and enjoy how good the nigiri/sashimi is.

I went to Hai Sushi for a birthday dinner with a party of 7. I was able to reserve a table for us earlier in the day for a Monday dinner. We were seated right away as our table was already set up and our drink order was taken. We were given menus and the AYCE deal was explained to us. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We were ordering multiple appetizers and rolls throughout the night and they were coming out promptly. The fried softshell crab and mussels were a hit. All of the rolls and appetizers were really good for the AYCE price. In the end we were given the check and it was pointed out that there is a 15% mandatory tip for orders with 4+ people. We did not mind since the service was Excellent and our server did a fantastic job accommodating us. There were a few TVs around which would make this a good spot to grab a drink, eat some sushi at the bar and catch a game.
